DOT people don't seem to use self-directed arrows much... :-(
Self-directed arrows add a lot of arrow heads and ink close by crowded source boxes (one reason why they are (regrettably) often omitted.
What do people think about the idea of letting the .dot functions of OpenMx allow users to turn off loops, and/or use plain text, instead of self-loops?
maybe a "self" parameter in the function call taking "TRUE|FALSE|text" as its three options, for drawing, suppressing, and rendering as stick-and-value balls, respectively:
