Longitudinal Question

Hi,

I am considering using a bivariate model to investigate the relationship between variable 1 and variable 2. Data is available for both variables for the same population for 2010 and 2016.

If I want to investigate this relationship longitudinally (the effect of variable 1 on variable 2) could I use a bivariate script with variable 1 in 2010 and variable 2 in 2016? or should I use a different model/script?

Thank you so much.

I would call this tetravariate (4-variate) not bivariate. You have two variables at two times; that's four variables. You can look at both within-time and across-time relationships, and those across variables too.

Thank you so much for your response,

Then, if I do a tetravariate analysis I could know the influence of variable 1 in variable 2 longitudinally looking at rG and rE? I mean, rG or rE between variable 1 (2010) and variable 2 (2016). Is it correct?
What would be the correct interpretation of these results?

Thank you so much in advance.
