anychance of a mirror in SE Asia somewhere or a text only option of the site for areas with poor internet connection?

We could try installing the Drupal mobile theme and then you should be able to view the webpage with fewer images: (http://drupal.org/project/mobile). Of course we won't be able to muck around with the webpage until after the workshop is over.
