Continuous- and Discrete-Time Dynamic Modeling in R. The course will provide an overview and hands-on tutorial on options for performing dynamic modeling using multivariate longitudinal data, particularly those collected from ecological momentary assessment (e.g., observational coding; daily diary; intensive longitudinal data) and psychophysiological (e.g., functional MRI) studies. Topics to be covered include discrete-time state-space/difference equation models, differential equation models, and continuous-time structural equation models. We will discuss and show examples of several packages for fitting dynamic models using the freely available statistical software, R, including: dynamic modeling in R (dynr), continuous-time structural equation modeling (ctsem), and group Iterative multiple model estimation (GIMME). Students will be guided through using software programs to develop familiarity with different types of dynamic models, followed by model construction, estimation, interpretations, and diagnostics. Participants are expected to have completed at least a graduate course on regression techniques and are comfortable working with multivariate data. Users who have not had prior exposure to R will be provided with access to pre-workshop electronic tutorials compiled and delivered by the workshop instructors. Registration is open as a one-day pre-conference short course for the Psychometric Society conference. All the short-courses are here. Register for a short course here, or generally for the conference here. July 9, 2018 Columbia University

Advanced Genetic Epidemiology Workshop. This NIDA- and OBSSR-funded workshop is designed to provide an overview of advanced statistical methodology for genetic studies of substance use and abuse phenotypes. It will cover analytical methods for twin and family studies, GxE interaction, phenotyping including genetic factor scores, mixture distribution modeling, latent growth curve modeling, regime switching, dynamical systems and genomics, among other topics. It will use a hands-on approach, in which participants will use their own laptop computers to implement and experiment with statistical methods described during presentations by the faculty. Basic knowledge of R and OpenMx is desirable - attendance at an introductory OpenMx course such as the even-numbered year Boulder workshop 2014 and 2016, or IOP summer school is recommended though not 100% essential. Registration is now open - follow this link . October 23rd - 27th, 2017 VIPBG, Virginia Commonwealth University Richmond, VA
2018 International Workshop on Statistical Genetics and Methodology of Twin and Family Studies. Five day workshop funded by NIMH and hosted by the Institute for Behavior Genetics at the University of Colorado. The main focus is on the analysis of data collected from twins and families, using OpenMx and umx. The 2018 workshop site is not up as of September 15 2017, but once it is, following above link would reveal it on the left hand panel where other years' workshops are linked. March 4-9, 2018 Boulder, CO

Introduction to Structural Modeling Using OpenMx. An invited workshop at the Association for Psychological Science will introduce the use of the OpenMx Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) package. The workshop will begin with a very brief introduction to the calculation of the covariances of linear combinations and the notions of path analysis. Next will be an introduction to specifying structural models in OpenMx. In contrast to traditional SEM modeling software, OpenMx uses a functional approach to model specification.
Next, we will specify and fit a wide variety of models that will include multiple and multivariate regression, confirmatory factor models, latent growth curves, mediation models, moderation models, and briefly touch on multigroup models.
