The minimum number of studies to examine the mediator using metaSEM

Dear Mike,

I'm Yu Xie. Now I am conducting a meta-analysis using metaSEM, examining a mediator between two variables. I only identify 3 studies in this meta-analysis. I am just wondering that is there any minimun number of studies to examine the mediator using metaSEM?

Dear Yu Xie,

I am not aware of any minimum no. of studies. It is difficult to give it as it may be situation specific. For example, a random-effects model may require a larger number of studies than a fixed-effects model does.
