Third Party Software

If you are the maintainer of a software package that uses OpenMx, and you would like us to host a forum discussion folder for your software, please let us know. You can contact us via email or by posting a request on the forums.

simsem and semTools

Hi,

Our packages simsem (simsem.org) and semTools (https://github.com/simsem/semTools/wiki) currently include functions related to OpenMx. Could we add a folder for these packages?

Thanks,

-Alex

simsem has been developed for facilitating simulation and analysis of data within the structural equation modeling (SEM) framework in R. This package aims to help analysts create simulated data from hypotheses or analytic results from obtained data.

The goal of semTools is to collect useful functions for structural equation modeling in a single, easily accessible place. All users of R and SEM are invited to send functions to us and we will maintain the functions.

semPlot?

I'm not the maintainer of the semPlot package but it would be nice if there were a forum since it's supposed to work with OpenMx to make path diagrams. However, it no longer seems to work with OpenMx since version 2. For pre 2.0 OpenMx, semPaths would take a fitted model object and create a path diagram. Now it reports an error so I'm assuming that the fit object has changed and semPlot was not written in a way that could handle changes in the fit object. I have not found a better package for making nice path diagrams with minimal work. I contacted the maintainer months ago but have not seen any correction. If we had a forum at least I could confirm others have the same problem.

Might also check out the S3 plot() method in umx. It handles RAM models, with path-loadings, output as graphviz files, which you can open in free graphviz software or in Omnigraffle or Visio. Also handles matrix-based models which umx creates (like ACE models)

It will be enhanced in the next umx and subsequent CRAN releases based on feedback from Mike Neale. Developer versions on github have some new functionality ahead of CRAN.
